A/C has finally quit. Am I missing something on my checklist? 200 1993

As far as the clutch not engaging goes, it sounds like the gap is too large. On my '98 V70 (305k) I pulled the clutch off and removed a shim to get to the recommended gap of 0.012 inches.

As far as the cooling, make sure the condenser (in front of the radiator) is unobstructed. If your system has a sight glass (my '90 240 does) see if it is running clear with no bubbles. You didn't mention the system pressures. The low side needs to be up around 45 psi to allow the compressor to start. You shouldn't need to jumper anything to get things going.
