Hi Tony! Glad you are still plugging away at the "Old Lady". I can't give you much of an answer to the drive gear question, except that I don't think any 444s came from the factory with M4s before about mid to late 57 "L" models. AFIK - The B4b cars generally had the H6 3spd. non synchro first gear trans.
