760 door lock cylinder R&R 700

I need to remove and replace the lock cylinder in the driver's door of my 88 760. I have the door panel off and the screws out of the door jamb. The lock cylinder is hidden from sight by a vertical black plastic piece in the door. Can it be removed or must I work by feel? I gather I need to slip the clip off the cylinder and unhook the linkage, then replace.
