240 Windshield Seal Replacement 200 1985

I recently found out that the Windshield Seal of my 85' 240 on the bottom left side doesn't stay flat to the body frame which allows water to drip on the driver's side foot well area through a 2mm gap.

I know allot of people are recommending the "Newer" seal but I would like to keep the chrome trim of my current Model/year if possible. Here are my questions.

1. Can I have a Glass replacement Store reseal the Windshield without having to Upgrade to the newer style and also by having the no-leak guarantee? Do they have to install new clips?

2. Is the upgraded clip-less seal going to replace the Chrome trim or it goes underneath it? Will the Windshield store be able to obtain the newer seal or where can I find it before hand If I have to find it on my own?

3. Is the Newer seal better than the Older style seal. Some people have mentioned that wind noise is reduced.

Any recommendations regarding the dilemma of repairing vs replacing the seal with the newer style?

Thanks

Mike
