93 960 wagon with two ruined engines 900 1993

I am just sick. A year and a half ago, my car just quit running. I was told by a volvo mechanic the engine was bad and I bought a used engine from him. Now 14 months later, the car stopped running again and he's saying the engine is bad again. I find it hard to believe a well taken care of volvo can be going through engines this way. The oil has been changed every 3000 miles, no
ethanol gas, mainly highway miles. It's a beautiful car. I love it. Am I being sabotaged? Is the mechanic not telling me the truth? Is it possible to
put another engine in this vehicle, one not as expensive as the one I bought before ($4000)? Help please.
