Hello,
I have a 1993 240 that seems to have similar issues.
It stalled in traffic about a week ago and wouldn't start after that for several hours (it started, but the engine wouldn't continue to run unless I gave it gas, so as soon as I stopped for any length of time it stalled. Couldn't even get it into drive).
It idles rough and stalls often when I'm starting it up after having gone anywhere (it starts and runs fine the first time I start it in a day, usually). Makes me nervous to go anywhere. It'll usually start back up and get me home after waiting a while, but idles rough and threatens to stall the whole way back.
I'm not very handy or knowledgeable about cars, but I have google-fu and the Bentley manual. Here's what I've done so far:
-changed the fuel pump relay, which didn't help
-cleaned and/or replaced the fuses that seemed to be relevant to the fuel injection system (of the ones in that panel to the left of the driver's interior)
-read the fuel injection fault codes: got an error 1 - 2 - 1 (air mass meter)
-disconnected the air mass meter to test the car out after driving it enough to start the stalling. It seemed to run worse with the AMM disconnected.
The hoses going to and from the AMM look good. I don't really know what to do from here; any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
