Absolutely replace the control arm and save the car. It's a simple straightforward job as the other posters have noted. If you get a replacement from a U-pull-it type place do yourself a favor and take it along with the rear bushing housing (three bolts) and the ball joint housing which bolts to the bottom of the strut (four bolts). The forward bushing almost never wears out so I'd leave that alone if you pick a good one. By taking the rear bushing housing you'll have a choice between it and the one on the car now---same with the ball joint. I doubt if the yard will charge any more or less if you have the control arm with the other parts still attached. Start the removal with the pivot bolt for the forward bushing--if it's frozen move on to another unit. You are unlikely to have problems with other bolts--use a 12mm 6-point socket or 12mm 6-point box wrench to loosen the ball joint housing to strut bolts. If you start early in the day you can have it done by the afternoon and take your wife out to dinner with the thousands of dollars you didn't spend on a replacement car. -- Dave
