No Start--Thinking ignition.. 200 1988

I solved the non-working ignition problem by whacking the starter with a mallet a few times. Unfortunately my original problem remains, the car turns but doesn't even give a hint at starting. I will list everything I have done so far to troubleshoot the problem.


  • checked timing belt
  • verified spark from coil
  • jumped fuses 4 and 6 and verified sound from both pumps
  • checked ground on engine block
  • cleaned under hood 25 amp fuse and all fusebox fuses
  • cleaned battery terminals



    • That is everything I can think of from my bag of tricks that has kept the car going for the last six years but none seems to be working. Any advice would be great because I gotta get to work tomorrow!
