245 dome light rehab 200

Finished installing reflectix in the roof of my 245 today. Terrible mistake to have started that job back in early June, when it was already so hot. Breezy and in the 70's today, job went like a dream.

Decided to clean up the 2 dome lights. Brought them inside, gave them a quick scrubbing with dish soap and an old toothbrush. Got all the crud out of the crevices, and they looked much nicer. But...all that worn-looking "metal" edging.

With a steady hand, a small brush, and a bottle of Testors 1146 "Silver" model enamel, they're looking pretty nice. You really don't even have to mask stuff off, the shape of the lens goes a long way to helping you keep the paint only on the edge. I painted the back side of the edge as well, hoping that would help prevent and shine-thru if I had thin spots.

Can't wait to see how they look with LED bulbs installed!

John
