fuel line fuel filter attachment way 200 1989

in order to get my old rusted on fuel pump out, i cut the fuel lines and dropped the whole bracket down. easier to work on it turned out.

well now i need to attach that hard plastic line to the outlet end of the mounted filter and even may have to add a piece to get the length i need. any ideas on how to get that line to slide down the "spiked " fitting? and how would i splice a bit more onto it? and where can i get that fuel line if i need to and is there a more supple line i can splice in?

i checked in the archives and seems like it may harder than i thought. was hoping new ideas have sprung up in 2 years.

always questioning

hopefully not a double post
