960 front wheel bearing questions 900

I have a 1996 960 wagon.
I had this strange sound going on after I changed out the front and rear bushings in my control arm and ball joints that turns out to be my right front wheel bearing.
A couple of 960 newbie questions:

- It looks like the bushings are only obtainable as part of the hub assembly.

- Does 118k miles seem a bit early for wheel bearings on a late 960 to need attention?

- Does replacing it require any special tools?

- Is it incredibly difficult to get the hub either on or off the axle?

Thanks very much,.
Jim Lee
