Lights flickering at idle 200 1993

Teal 240,

Stop by an Advance Autoparts or Autozone and have them do a free battery and alternator test in the parking lot. I suspect they will say that your battery is fine but the alternator has a bad diode plate so you are down to 1/3rd of the charge capability of a good alternator. If the diode plate is bad, go for a rebuilt unit, based on price, not necessarily where you had it tested.

I've had three diode plates in the alt fry this way one each in an 89, a 90, and a 92. I know that two of them smoked due to a bad ground wire to the battery.
