preventing K Jetronic fuel pump relay damage 200

Over the years, I have had trouble with many K Jetronic fuel pump relays melting the 6 pin connector or damaging the solder joints inside. The trouble is temperature, and corrosion seems to be the cause. I use Corrosion Block to help with the corrosion, but seek a more permanent fix. In order to prevent this, I am thinking of cascading a metal relay in series with the 87 terminal on the plastic relay. Has anyone ever done this? Thx., Wayne
