I'd go very easy on that ether. In fact, now you verified that the car has spark, I wouldn't use it at all.

The first thing I'd do is replace every single fuse. Just for the hell of it. The fuse holders on 84's cut the ends off the fuses over time, and blown fuses are very hard to see sometimes. I just got myself an 84 for a song - wish it were as nice as yours sounds!
