Tranny woes S90-V90 1997

Could anyone tell me what transmission years will fit into my 97 S90. I believe Volvo switched to OBD2 around this year and I wonder if a non OBD2 year tranny will work correctly. Current tranny is whining through out the RPM range. It still shifts okay, but my wife drives this one and she hates to walk. As the old saying goes, "If momma ain't happy, nobody is happy.
