Maybe transmission problem 900 1997

Hi I purchased a 97 960 Wagon with 150k that had driven from Florida to Maine and blown the transmission. I have another 960 wagon and thought 2 would be good. I was going to source a transmission and put it in. The car was towed to my house and had been towed 3 times up here in Maine before it came to my house. The previous owner balked at the $3500 quoted by the transmission shop. It sat at my house for 3 weeks. I tried to move it last week and it moved. I drove it around the block and it went fine. I have now driven it 25 miles town and highway and I have no hint of a transmission problem. It has been bombarded with falling acorns could this have fixed the problem? Could some electrical glitch cause the transmission to slip and then be OK. Fluid looks and smells fine. What should I do? I cannot believe the former owner did not experience some form of transmission problem and wonder when it will return,
