m46 OD solenoid # 40 gaskets. how do they go on/in? 200

The two o rings labeled as #40 on the parts diagram are not talked about in the instructions. Do I just put them inside the OD unit first or do I place them around the solenoid up against the metal/rubber washer and install the solenoid?

OD is back in the car. The hardest part removing it was the driveshaft which I ended up removing entirely to reach the top two nuts. Next time I think I'll remove the drive shaft at the OD flange before killing the car in Reverse and then line up the flanges later. Its been nice though having the driveshaft out of the way.
I also couldn't get the sleeve out on the pressure valve and thus not test to see if the valve's o-rings where holding strong. Worse case I can alway remove it without removing the OD. The OD piston's -rings where clearly half way disintegrating on one side. I believe they will prove to be the reason for the problems. Thanks.
