Locking rear differential won't unlock 900 1993

I have a 93 945 non turbo with heated seats and mirrors. In snow or rain if I let one wheel spin while accelerating the rear differential locks up for added traction. That part is awesome but it then won't unlock when I don't need it and it affects my steering. When it is locked the car pulls hard to one side and can even stay locked at high speeds. It takes a sharp right or left turn to get it to disengage. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
