transmission linkage contacting drive shaft i Park and Reverse? 200 1991

91 245 automatic with 175K on it - about 700 miles away with my sons at college - son called complaining that the shift lever moves side to side when in reverse and sometimes hard to get it into park, no problems in drive. I was able to get him to climb under and describe what he could see to me - and it seems the linkage is making contact with the drive shaft while in park. I dont have another 240 auto here to compare to for reference, but I'm suspecting either transmission or motor mounts have caused it to move, or maybe linkage bushings?

Has anyone else seen these symptoms?
