6V starter problems 444-544

I think the starter on my 6v 59 duett is on it's way out. Occasionally, I will hear a whirling sound when I attempt to start the car, instead of the car starting.
First, any thoughts about what might be causing this problem? Do I need a rebuilt starter?
Second, if I need a rebuilt starter where's a good place to get one? Thank in advance.
