car runs great, occasional no crank

1990 740 GL B230F and AT. Generally runs great, occasionally though after driving, turning the car off for a few minutes, and try to re-start all lights turn on and nothing else happens. I do hear the fuel pump, but no crank. Then, when the car feels like it, it starts just fine. I'm trying to find an old thread I found here years ago, or track down which relay or switch is not working.
Where should I start looking?
