Brake failure light and charge light on after start up... 200 1986

I've recently replaced my alternator and secured the relocated little wire that travels under the crank only to have the charge light AND the brake failure light came on after I started the car this morning. When I reved the ending a touch, both lights went out and never came back on. What could this problem be?
