Changing coolant, how often?

Hey Brickboard buddies,

I've changed the coolant in my '94 940 (160k miles) probably twice since I've had it - once at 100k miles when I replaced the radiator and once at around 135K. My owners manual says it doesn't typically need to be replaced. But doesn't the chemistry change over time so it is advisable to change it? It sure still looks nice and bright and green.

And, if I change it should I use a particular brand? or is any kind ok to use, as long as I drain the system as thoroughly as possible?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.
