wrong rack and pinion from jorgenauto.com?! 200 1987

ok, so I went to the Jorgen website that I read about on this site for my R&P, looked at the chart to get the right R&P for my '87 240, ordered the thing, received it....and now my mechanic says it's the wrong one and that he has to rebuild my R&P that's leaking.

The idea was to save money. It would have been $200 for the R&P (Jorgen) + $250 labor (my mechanic).

Now my mechanic says $650 for a rebuild and installation since it's the 'wrong' R&P.

Now I need to make up my mind about what I'm gonna do next.

What would say about this?

How the heck could this happen? How could I have misread the chart?> I ordered 54216...
