Radio and Tach wiring 200 1989

Hi. I have a 1989 240DL that I wanted to make some electronic improvements in. I wanted to add a new radio/CD player, two rear speakers, and a tach. I thought the radio would be a fairly simple installation until I got the old one out. I expected a six or eight wire system, but found a 9 connection plug. So I checked the wiring diagram. It only listed 8 wires, plus the antenna connection. While checking the diagram key it also listed the Overdrive Switch running through/with the radio connections, so now I’m really lost. HELP

From Radio
Wires ~ Wiring Diag. Description

Heavy Black ~ Ground (Listed as 25SB?)
Green ~ Const + (what is Const?)
*Drk Blue ~ B + ? (Maybe. it’s hard to read. What is this one?)
Red ~ Power Ant
White/Blue ~ Left Front Spkr + (?)
Blue/White ~ Right Front Spkr – (?)
#Diagram just lists both as Blue/White
Grey ~ (Isn’t even listed in wiring Diagram)
White ~ Left Front –
*Light Blue ~ Right Front –
* Wiring Diagram doesn’t differentiate between Light Blue and Drk Blue, so they may be reversed.

Yellow/Black ~ 10/h (? hard to read, what is this one?)
Red w/end connector ~ Power Ant
Yellow/White ~ Left Front Spkr +
White ~ Left Front Spkr –
Yellow/Grey ~ Right Front Spkr +

Yellow w/end connector ~ tagged as DIM (not listed on wiring diagram, what?)
Brown w/end connector ~ tagged as Rheo (not listed on wiring diagram, what?)

1) So can someone please translate this mess so I can splice correctly. I looked at the wiring diagram, not the key, and can’t find any reference at all to the Overdrive Switch. Quite frankly I can’t understand why an Overdrive Switch would be wired anywhere at all on the radio circuit. They might physically reside in the same general place under the dash, but wired together?

2) I can’t find any wires to the back deck for rear speakers and no references at all on the wiring diagram for rear speakers. Did 1989 DLs not have the wiring installed to the rear deck as a standard item?

3) If there are no wires to the rear deck, I have run wires anyway. Could I just tuck the original wiring harness under the dash nice and neat and use my own stereo harness? I know I’d have to connect a power lead and the two front door speakers to the stereo harness, but that’s pretty simple.

TACH wiring.

I was also hooking up a tach, and someone earlier said to look for a Red/White wire. I was expecting a two prong connection, but what I found was a single Red/White wire ending in a spade terminal. On my tach I have a single spade connector with JMP, 12V above it and 1 below it . At the top of the tach I have a three spade connection listed as +58, -31, +30.

My assumption is just to connect the white/red wire to the single spade on the bottom. Is this correct? What are the top connections for?

Thanks for reading your way through War and Peace here, but I couldn’t figure out a shorter way to explain what was going on.!!
