felt oil seal vs neoprene oil seal?? 120-130 1967

Hi all:

I just learned that the crankshaft housings in the front and the back will only accept oil seals made out of felt, and not neoprene ones.

Is it possible for the housings to be removed and re-machined to accept neoprene seals? Or does that have to require whole housing replacement to upgraded ones?

Or...just stick to just replacing to new felt seals? How much difference in sealing quality between the felt and the neoprene?

Any advice/suggestion appreciated. Thanks!
