O2 sensor 200 1992

just checked the computer and received code 2-1-2; bad o2 signal. Checked at O'riley auto parts in Houston and was quoted $99 for the part. Then, the guy behind the counter said that there is a universal part as an option-- Part not 05702 from BWD for $50. He said all i needed to do was to splice the wires together. is that true? Has anyone tried this part (BWD 05702) as a replacement? I saw a sensor for sale on IPD for $140 and am interested paying $50 if it will work.
