91 240 Wagon Check Engine Light 200

I have a 1991 240 wagon, owned since new. We like the car. My wife drives it. Great visibility and all that stuff. I have taken care of it with regular service, etc. As with all of these cars, the check engine light continues to come on. My mechanics comes up with this and that, cleans this and that, adjusts this and that but it won't stay out. My wife is pissed. She doesn't like seeing that light come on. To my knowledge, nothing associated with it has ever amounted to anything. How about I just put it to bed forever (the light). We lived without them before.

Thanks,

Steve
