Help Needed: Indicators have stopped working. 200

My indicator lights have stopped working. It happened first time yesterday evening. I check fuse 5 was blown so I replaced it but no luck. I thought of checking rear bulbs, wiggled them and it started working, again it stopped working midway while driving back to home. Tried to check bulbs again, probably touched third brake light and I was again in bussiness. This morning while coming to work again it stopped working. So what will be the most likely cause.
The warning flash lights work ok. The relay is fine. Does the third brake light has to do anything with this. Is it connected to fuse 5. Car is 1990 volvo240dl SW.
