Acceleration hesitation after o2 sensor swap?? 700 1988

I swapped out my o2 sensor and re gasketed the exhaust manifold in an attempt to fix an exhaust leak and pass smog. Car starts and idles fine, but now when I take off from a stop, there is a 5-6 second delay for power to kick in. It just lugs. In neutral, it doesn't exhibit this problem. I am fixing to replace fuel filter today cause I have a spare and it is easy but are there other possibilities it could be?

Car ran fine before and has never shown this problem before. Replaced o2 and exh Mani off and on were only things done.

740 non turbo.

Thanks for any help!
