Catalytic Converter Junk Science 200

Depends. What kind of emissions test was it? Was it a two speed idle test or was it am ASM. My 1987 245 used to pass the Texas two speed idle test with no problems. The first time I had to take the ASM it failed. Primarily very high NOx. When I replaced the cat, I found out it was just a shell; completely gutted. I think most any well maintained car can pass an idle emissions test without a cat.
