Rough idle and when engine under strain 900 1996

Hello All,

I have a 1996 960 with 200k miles. It has developed a rough idle. It also is rough when the engine is under strain, such as when I am going up a hill in high gear. It sometimes bucks like a wild horse. The idle is rough usually only when cold, but it's becoming rough even when not cold sometimes.

I've researched it and found a few options for what might be bad: intake manifold gasket, dirty throttle body, and bad ignition coil. I don't have a way to read codes, short of taking it into a shop. What would you guys do to remedy the rough idle? I have a friend who is willing to help if I need to do anything like replace the intake manifold gasket, but would you start elsewhere first?

Thanks!
