The "second pull' is the accurate indicator .... 200 1990

The problem (for lack of a better term, because it's not really a problem) deals with the design at the bottom of the dipstick tube. You *always* have to pull the stick out to wipe it (though it will always be dry), and reinsert and withdraw again -- that will indicate the fluid level. This has always been the case with our transmissions.
