1990 740 Turbo Wagon - transmission jerking then slipping, no drive :( 700 1990

1990 Volvo Wagon Turbo Intercooler, auto box.

Just got the fuel filter and external pump replaced. Went for a drive and about 15 minutes from home I noticed the transmission jerking a little and what sounded like a whirring noise on the right side of the engine, like a belt rubbing? The noise if anything got less but the transmission started jerking more and slipping. By the time I got home I couldn't get the car up my driveway, too much transmission slip. I looked under the hood and nothing unusual there. The belts look good.

Ideas?
