1992 740 Overdrive Not Working 700

I've been having problems with the top gear in my 1992 740 wagon with automatic transmission. About 8 months ago the overdrive started kicking down while driving above 60 mph. It usually would come back on within 10 minutes, or the next time the car was driven it would be fine. Sometimes for hundreds and hundreds of miles. As of last week, overdrive doesn't work at all. Volvo told me to check my OD relay. I replaced it and still the same thing. What next? What are the common problems with this?
