further (NEW) to previous post 'fuel? ignition? problem' - AMM issue 700 1987

I was having an issue where the car wouldn't run at more than 400rpm for more than 30secs or so, and the Sages on BrickBoard helped me track that nicely, seemingly to a failed AMM. However, the issue persists. It cold started OK this morn, but after a warm-up ride to get fuel and every start there-after, I've had to unplug the AMM and the re-connect it once started. I can hear the engine note even out and smell the mixture change once the AMM is plugged in, and it runs like a charm, I just have trick it into starting. I've tried unplugging the cold start circuit in case that was flooding a warm engine, but didn't help. What is up with that???

(see post "fuel? ignition? problem" for more info/symptoms/diagnostics)
Also, I will see if my old AMM works in this fashion and keep it as a spare.
