shift lock solenoid removual 200 1991

I want to remove the shift lock solenoid from the automatic transmission shifter. Does any one know if there is any issues with me just pulling the unit out? I live in a cold winter state and this thing works/ does not work, I am tired of dealing with the unit and want it gone. I looked at the electrical drawing and if I am right it should not effect any thing. Second question, I do I go about removing it? I have 3 manuals not one of them actually shows any thing, it just says remove old one and install new one. I do not plan on installing a new one. Has any one donee this on there car?
