When to Rebuild the B230 Engine? 200

My son's 93 245 has 248000 miles and gives no trouble as far as the engine is concerned. I had the head rebuilt at 175K miles, and so far no problems. Drove it twice from South Texas to Providence,RI towing a small U-Haul. Love this car!!!
In my hot little hands is a complete set of standard sized rings, engine bearings and complete set of gaskets for a B230 engine rebuild.
should I jump the gun and rebuild the engine now? Or wait till it needs boring out and machining, detected by a lack of power and the blue-smoke out the tailpipe?
Wife's 89 740 with a B230 is also a candidate for rebuld (208K miles on the engine). Her's puffs out a small cloud of smoke upon startup. Perhaps this is the one to rebuild?
I'll take pressure readings for the compression for both and will give the #1 candidate status to the lower engine readings.
Any ideas?
