960 cranks but won't start 900 1995

Hi Brickboarders,

I have a 1995 960 sedan B6304 engine with 217K on it. Had initial hard start problem in evening and then next morning it wouldn't fire at all.

The car has a new fuel pump and filter. I verified that fuel is getting to the fuel rail.

In any case, the car has fuel and it won't start. It tries and fires intermittently as if it might start but it just won't catch. I read the OBDII codes and I have a P0172 (too rich in bank 1). I have a slew of manuals and a lot of experience working on 240's, 740's and 850's but the 960 B6304 is new to me.

I'm wondering what I might do next. Are there any common problems with the 960 that I might focus on? I have heard people throw around the problems with camshaft position sensors, crank position sensors , ignition discharge modules, bad MAFs, etc.

Is there any kind of comprehensive 960 diagnostic troubleshooting chart or does anyone have any suggestions about where I might begin? I'm not sure if I should concentrate on ignition or fuel at this point. Even though I have fuel to the rail, could some other part of the fuel system such as a bad FPR cause it not to start?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
