1st gear hop 85 245 200 1985

On my way into work this morning, I noticed that going into 1st gear (from a dead stop), it was like my car would hop into 1st.

A better way to describe it is like when you pop the clutch and the car kind of jerks or makes a clunk sound in the back. It's not a grinding clunk, but sounds like I've driven over/in a pot-hole.

For some of the trip into work (there are a ton of red lights on a hill) I had to ride the clutch so as to not fully engage the gear on the first try.

If I double clutched (or engaged the clutch, put it back in after I got some momentum and then went again), it was ok. If I was moving, it was ok too. Shifting from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th were no problems either.

Here are some issues that might be related to it.

I had IPD check the bushings recently and they said it was ok. I had changed the rear shocks already (probably in 2008). The clutch is new from last summer.

My E brake has stuck the whole time I've owned it, but I'm not sure if it's the brake itself as much as the cable (spring) sticking somewhere under the seats. It makes a clunk noise once I get going and lift the handle (but never slows down the car).

Or it could just be my car is jealous/mad that I bought a truck last month.
