Stalling after rain and no power upon acceleration after stopping at light 900 1994

Dear Shelly,

Hope you're well. A weak/failing ignition power stage can produce a wide range of symptoms, which have in common, that the engine will not produce enough power and/or do so consistently. Sometimes, high heat causes this part to work intermittently or to fail. Moisture can also cause intermittent operation of electrical parts.

If your car is non-turbo, this unit is mounted on the inner fender well, a few inches behind the driver's side headlight (North American models). It has a single electrical connector.

If you have access to a salvage yard, that gets in 740 or 940 Volvos, you should be able to get several of these units, for small money. Once your car is working smoothly, test these units to find those that work. Do not swap these, or any other electrical part, while the engine is running. Turn off the engine and remove the ignition key.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
