all dash lights flickering on 960 900 1997

this is a strange problem. when driving home last week, my dash lights flickered - all of them from the inst panel to the radio and trans control lights on the console.

during this happening, the car was running fine, the headlights were on, nothing else seemed to be the matter.

what up?

I'm sending my wife 4 hours to Northern Vermont with this car in a few weeks, so it must be running well.
