Opinion on what year/model to buy? 700

I'm looking for a very cheap old Volvo wagon for a daily driver. Don't have much experience working on cars but I'm willing to get out the tools and learn, I guess you have to start somewhere.

Beyond the normal caveats about reliability depending on the previous owner's maintenance, I need to figure out what to look for. Any model will do, but I prefer 700/900s to 200s because I live in the Midwest, where cars rust. After reading the boards it sounds like the 1988 n/a models are favored (K-block and decent wiring harness without the ECU problems of the 89?), or perhaps the 1993+ L-block models. But I can't find a good 1988 example at the moment. I have, however, seen a couple 90-92 Regina cars in decent shape. It just seems like the Regina cars have more problems (weaker fuel pump? more sensors?), but I don't really know. I don't want any unnecessary headaches, so I'm avoiding turbos; should I avoid Regina cars too?
