I don't dispute the fatal effect on the 1959's driver but it's hard to believe the exterior damage to the full-frame older car - although the Chevy is n X-frame vs the Ford/ Chrysler ladder frames. But it wouldn't amaze me to find that IIHS doctored the 59 to make it show more damage (Note the pass-side fender pushing away from the car sans denting) as they were accused of doing on several SUV crash simulations and numerous motorcycle tests.

Note that IIHS is a lobby group "IIHS first-and-foremost represents the interests of the 80 insurance companies from which it receives its funding ....
