Jim, I think the temperature compensator board issues are overblown by a factor of, oh, maybe 2000. Clean the four pins on the cluster circuit board, tighten the clamps on the compensator board and reinstall it. I may replace one in 100 compensator boards due to temp fluctuation. The rest are just not making good contact. I've read about people just soldering the existing pins/connectors to assure good contact. Of course that means when the board does finally expire, your project is a little tougher.
