960 Temp gauge reads hot when engine is cold (ECT sensor?)

Hi

I have a 96 960 with 220K. This is a follow up to a post I made a week ago.

When the car is completely cold (in the morning for example) and I switch on the ignition, the needle rises to the middle position on the temp gauge. I am wondering whether the sender for the gauge is the ECT Coolant Temp Sensor or whether it has a separate sensor. I would also like to know where the sensor (or sensors) are located on the 960 B6304F2.

Thanks
