Rear end noises and diff drain plug wrench questions 200 1985

Hello,

My mammoth 240 DL project is nearing completion. It's back on the road, and inspected for the first time in nearly three years. It drives great, apart from some noise from the rear end. It's a sort of low growl, proportional to vehicle speed, and it gets slightly louder when my foot's down.

From reading around, the center support bearing sounds like the likely cause. Any other opinions on what it could be? I think I may get a shop to do this, I've had about enough of winter/outdoor DIY.

Also, I need a square ended wrench to open the diff drain plug. It's in pretty tight. An open ended 11mm feels like it will flex and round off the plug. I can't find a suitable tool anywhere!

Thanks!
Tim
