a couple more 780 concerns 700 1989

right to the point:
it has been very cold here, and the 780 starts right up every time. what concerns me, however, is that it shoots up to operating temperature by the time i get to the bottom of my 500 yard driveway. it has never overheated, and there is coolant in the reservoir. should i be concerned about this?

second, i am consuming/losing/possibly even burning oil somehow. in a little over a week i was down almost a quart. sometimes i smell oil when i'm driving, usually when i step on the accelerator. i thought maybe i didn't tighten the oil pan bolt enough so i went under and really cranked it tight. i noticed a little bit of fresh oil (recent oil change) on the bolt. i replaced the washer when i did the oil change. that didn't help. there isn't any oil on the floor of the garage and there's no white/blue smoke on startup/driving from a stop so i don't THINK it's burning oil. less than a quart a week isn't THAT big of a deal, but at the same time, i'm very curious if i can just do something simple to help it out. help???
