ipod connection to CR814 --1993 940T 900

I have a need to connect an ipod to my original alpine CR814 cassette/radio. I really do not care if it cannot be charged through the cable or indeed controlled through the face of the CR814.
I have read numerous post on the subject but have yet to find a simple solution to my dilemma.
I have seen cables sold on amazon which purport to fit the bill, but am reluctant to purchase without more information because many of the historical posts indicate this particular player is difficult to connect with an ipod.
Has anyone any positive experience of one of these cables, which would connect from the CD socket at the back of the CR814 directly to the ipod.
