The only practical way to get the sliding headliner part of the sunroof out of the car is to take it out through the sunroof opening, from the top. It comes out with the sunroof mechanism.

If you drop the sunroof drip pan from below, you still can't remove the sliding headliner panel. It won't slide out the back of the mechanism without surgery.
